Welcome to the Archbishop Spalding HS women's lacrosse Coaches Corner.  I will use this page to write post game reports, acknowledge great plays and players and  keep friends of ASHS GLAX up to date regarding the team's progress.  Running the gauntlet that is the IAAM A conference can be a very daunting task.    With a "tough but fair approach" we hope to honor the game while seeking immediate results.  The coaches and I appreciate your support and look forward to building on our past successes and look forward to even bigger things in 2009.
Go Cavs!
~Coach Leavitt

There will be a preseason meeting Monday September 15th 7:00pm in the auditorium.  All players (and their parents) interested in trying out for the 2009 teams are encouraged to attend.  The meeting is not mandatory but will answer a lot of questions you may have.  Each player should download the Players Information Sheet and bring it to the meeting. (a new one is required if you filled one out last year)

General Practice and Game Info:
All players are expected to wear appropriate dress.  When the temperature is below 60 degrees players need to have on long sleves and sweatpants.  Layering is always wise and there are plenty of great moisture wicking products on the market.  If they are not properly dressed they will be sent home.  They will also need their own water bottle for practices marked with their name.  No sharing of water, please.  For game days Black is required under uniform tops and kilts.

For away games, players should ride the bus back to school.  Any player wishing to go home with their parent must sign out with Coach Leavitt prior to departure.  No player may leave a game with another player.  However, if you wish to go home with a parent that is not your own, you must bring a note signed by your parent indicating same.

As per the US Lacrosse rulebook, all spectators must remain on the side of the field opposite the team benches.  Moreover, no spectators may stand behind both end lines.  That means you may not stand along the fence behind the goal or behind the team bench area.  Please respect the spirit of the rule and watch the game from the school side of the Bermuda Field.  We have been warned by officials in the past (because its a great place to watch the game!) so your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

The way a team plays as a whole determines its success.  You may have the greatest bunch of individual stars in the world, but if they don't play together, the club won't be worth a dime.  ~Babe Ruth
